We are currently looking for a Junior HR Project Manager out of St. Thomas, ON

Our mission has started. Volkswagen Group’s largest cell factory in St. Thomas will carry out all battery activities – from processing raw materials to developing a unified Volkswagen battery to managing the European and North American gigafactories. Headquartered in Salzgitter, Germany, we are experiencing the transformation of mobility up close. Our goal is to contribute a positive impact to our global society, the environment, and the economy. Reporting to the HR PMO & Digital Manager, the Junior HR Project Manager will play a key role in the successful preparation, implementation, and support of our HR ramp up program at the PowerCo Canada Gigafactory in St. Thomas, as well as the development and documentation of processes.

This role will be expected to organize, track, and report on the status and progress of various initiatives within HR across many different workstreams and levels, in addition to identifying risks and driving solutions to keep progress on track. Our successful candidate is highly collaborative, an excellent and efficient communicator and with experience in the implementation of large-scale business systems and projects.

This is a flex hybrid model, requiring 2 days per week in the St. Thomas office.

Primary Responsibilities
• Work in partnership with Payroll, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development HR, and IT teams as needed to review and enhance processes, and create documentation, checklists, and work aids.
• Develop strong working relationships with HR sub-teams to understand their processes and pain points and contribute to planning future improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with the HR Management Team to identify, plan, and implement process improvements that support business growth, HR efficiency, and enhance the Manager and Employee Experience with HR processes.
• Assist HR leadership in scheduling and planning key initiatives identified during strategic planning and monitor progress throughout the year.
• Organize and facilitate meetings and resolve conflicts between groups to advance project and process initiatives.
• Engage HR sub-teams and business stakeholders in the planning process as necessary.
• Ensure that deliverables are clearly defined and incorporated into a formal project plan.
• Identify the resources needed for the success of each major program and process improvement initiative.
• Ensure the timely delivery of objectives requiring collaboration from multiple HR sub-teams.
• Use formal processes and tools to manage resources, tasks, and changes effectively.
• Oversee the status and information of HR projects and communicate updates through formal briefings.
• Manage the end-to-end process of all assigned projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Maintain communication with stakeholders and serve as the primary point of contact for project status updates.
• Address problems through risk management and contingency planning, presenting solutions or alternatives as needed.
• Conduct quality control throughout all project phases to ensure adherence to standards.
• Maintain a high-level understanding of the project lifecycle and portfolio.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or as pertinent to the position.

Desired Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Project management or related fields, or equivalent relevant work experience
• 2+ years of project management experience
• Cross functional HR experience in some or all the following areas: HRIS systems, Learning and Development, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Payroll.
• Excellent MS PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and PMO software skills
• Project management and project planning experience or training – with understanding of project management methodology, business analysis and testing techniques.
• Strong understanding of HR processes, and experience in HR Process improvement.
• The ability to plan and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Ability to drive projects through to completion by collaborating with colleagues or working independently with little or no supervision.
• Highly effective at organizing and managing time and resources.
• Strong inter-personal and influencing skills with the ability to effectively lead initiatives, gain support and build consensus with HR team stakeholders, and partners in other business areas.
• Excellent verbal communication and facilitation skills.
• Experience coordinating teams or projects with conflicting priorities.
• Occasional travel within Ontario, as well as internationally (~10%)
• Ability to maintain flexible Ability to adapt to both team and individual working environments.
• Overtime may be required to meet ramp-up deadlines.
• German language skills
• Project Management Certification is strongly desired.
